not a foodie.

March 24, 2007

there was a time when my staples consisted of canned refried beans, top ramen, and the mexican velveeta secret. then, to my delight, homemade stock, hand-crafted loaves, and tender roasted chicken entered into my world. my eyes were wide open and my palette was mystified by the complex flavors set before me.

later, i came to appreciate the pleasure of demystification; exploring, discovering, and relaxing rules on my own. and now after spending seven days on a culinary, cultural, and historical tour of madrid and surrounds, my curiousities and my gastronomical enthusiasm are piqued.

to record this period of food enlightenment, i’m taking the suggestion from my friend david–an andalucian charmer chef–and starting a food blog to record my culinary excursions.

buon sabor!
